About

330_515773219258_3865_nEver look over at that chic, polished, perfect woman — you know, the one who always has the perfect outfit/perfect hair/perfect skin/perfect makeup/perfect apartment/perfect everything — and wonder what her secret is? Well, I have spent most of my life trying to figure that out, first as a magazine-obsessed teen and college student and later as a magazine editor. From fashion and beauty to interior design, weddings and travel, I’ve spent my entire career — and free time — uncovering the secrets to all the stylish and beautiful places, spaces, looks, parties, and women that inspire me. I started “I Want Her Outfit” to share the many, many things that inspire me on a daily basis — and the secrets to getting that impossibly chic life that I have always wanted to live.

Here’s a little more about my style — and the things that inspire me.

My “It” List

Style Icons: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, Miranda Kerr, Olivia Palermo, Caroline Issa, Jenna Lyons

Leisure: Tennis, Travel, Magazines,

Stuff I Love: Stripes, Scones, Soy Lattes, Sailing, Skiing, Shopping, Safari

Favorite Places: Paris, Rome,  San Francisco, Jackson Hole, Montana, At Sea, On a plane someplace new

Homes Away From Home: Park City, Quogue, Wolf Lake

Always with me: Our mini golden-doodle Dakota

Lines I Love: Tory Burch, DVF, Tibi, Milly, Zara, Valentino Red, J.Crew

Dream Designers: Chanel, Calvin Klein, Proenza Schouler, Carolina Herrera, Celine

Jewelry: For the longest time I felt naked without a stack of my grandma’s gold bangles with my Hermes and David Yurman bracelets but I’ve been having a more minimal take on jewelry lately: my fiancé’s old watch, my engagement ring and diamond studs, with the occasional statement necklace or cuff when I want to dress things up

Workout Gear: Lululemon yoga pants and tops, Saucony sneakers, Patagonia shorts

Jeans: Paige 527, Madewell, J.Brand

Go-To Dresses: Milly, DVF, Tibi

Heels: Loubs, Manolos, Valentino, Kate Spade, J.Crew

Flats: Lanvin, Repetto, J.Crew, Delman, Ferragamo

Boots: Chloe, Tory Burch, J.Crew, Frye

Coats: J.Crew, Club Monaco, Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone, Celine (dream)

Work Uniform: I haven’t really developed a solid uniform yet, but I find in a pinch I reach for either a dress with heels or boots, or a blazer, tee, and denim or black skinnies and heels or flats (depending on the occasion)

Everyday Bag: I typically switch between my new obsession, a monogrammed Clare Vivier crossbody bag, my Goyard tote and a nondescript Madewell brown leather tote.

Going Out Bag: Depends on the outfit, but usually  I trade off between an ostrich tan clutch I got in Curacao, a Pink patent YSL clutch for a pop of color, a Louis Vuitton classic LV clutch, and a faux Alexander McQueen skull minaudière I found at a small boutique in Bronxville

What’s In My Bag: What’s not is the better question — dog treats, bones and poo bags; iPhone, iPad, extra contact lenses, Chanel concealer, chapstick, business cards, jam-packed Marc Jacobs wallet that’s way too heavy and needs to be replaced with a smaller one; headphones, flats, Mac red lipstick, clear nail polish, snacks, gum… really anything could be in there (think: Mary Poppins)

Nail Color: I like to experiment with new colors when I get my nails done; when I DIY at home, my go-tos are Essie “Ballet Slippers” when I want to go nude and Chanel “Blue Satin” when I want to go dark

Luggage: T. Anthony

Travel Uniform: Skinny jeans, breezy tee or J.Crew men’s button-up, cashmere cardigan, flats

In My Carry-On: Healthy snacks, iPad, headphones, Dior eye mask, terry cloth cosmetics bag (in case luggage gets lost), magazines (even with the iPad I can’t help it), MacBook Pro, Autumn Cashmere wrap, gum and candy to soothe my flying nerves during takeoff and landing and turbulence
